Meet the author:
Andrew Fagan was frontman of 80s pop band The Mockers. He is the author of eight books including his nonfiction trilogy of life onboard a tiny yacht, Swirly World: The Solo Voyages (2001), Swirly World Sails South (2012), and Swirly World: Lost at Sea (2024). Andrew Fagan's Passage of Time tour, Solo Songs and Stories from a Swirly World, tours New Zealand in November 2025. See www.facebook.com/FaganAndThePeople for more details.

About the book:
In January 2022, renowned solo sailor, Andrew Fagan, set sail from Auckland, New Zealand, in his tiny 5.1m sloop-rigged plywood yacht Swirly World in Perpetuity in an attempt to set the world record for 'The smallest boat to sail solo around the world via the Great Capes'. The voyage itself was estimated to take fourteen months non-stop. Fourteen months of food, water... and resolve. Andrew first needed to cross the vast South Pacific Ocean towards Cape Horn, the stuff of myth and legend and the point at which the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet, one of the most feared sea routes in the world. Was his boat up to it? Was he up to it? Written with his trademark humour and a solemn sense of sailing awareness, Swirly World: Lost At Sea is underpinned by Andrew's clinical understanding of both the brutality and beauty of the sea.
